SNELLVILLE -- A string of area robberies have authorities looking for a mild-mannered bandit.
Snellville police said it is possible that the man who robbed a Blimpie on Monday is responsible for several stickups across the county.
"We have no photographs or surveillance video," said Detective Dean Boone. "We've compared notes with Gwinnett County, Lawrenceville and Lilburn and think they could've been done by the same person ... similar fashion, similar suspect."
Boone said the perpetrator appears to have the same modus operandi, same style of dress and same reported black semiautomatic handgun.
And there's one thing that sets him apart from the typical crook: his demeanor.
"It seems like he's pretty polite about it," Boone said. "He says, "I don't want to hurt you ... he's kind of apologetic for it."
The man is believed to have also robbed an Odin's Comics in Snellville and perhaps a Lilburn location, Boone said.
From witness accounts and information gathered from other agencies, Boone said, police believe the man to be a light-skinned black man in his early to mid-20s, slim and about 5 feet 9 inches tall.
Reports have circulated about a white sport utility vehicle being involved, but Boone said police have not confirmed that this is the getaway vehicle.
"We think he's picking businesses that are a little secluded, not a lot of foot traffic," Boone said. "We think he's doing his homework."
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact police.
