Panthers' Carroll tops 1,000-point mark
Though Parkview's girls basketball suffered a season-ending upset loss to Marietta last weekend, guard Katie Carroll hit a milestone in the Class AAAAA first-round game by scoring her 1,000th career point. Carroll is just a junior. Vanderbilt's Clarke gets SEC honor Vanderbilt's Tiffany Clarke, a Norcross grad, was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team for women's basketball on Tuesday. Clarke, in Duluth this week for the SEC tournament, averaged 8.1 points and 5.4 rebounds this season in slightly more than 18 minutes per game. Duluth to honor Heisman winner Rogers The city of Duluth will declare Monday as George Rogers Day to honor the 1980 Heisman Trophy winner who went to Duluth High School. Rogers will be recognized at Monday's 7 p.m. City Council meeting. Prep Rally' to feature state wrestling "Gwinnett Prep Rally," a Gwinnett County high school sports TV program, airs highlights of Collins Hill's third straight state wresting title and basketball highlights from Norcross-Centennial boys and Collins Hill-Milton boys on this week's show. Featured athletes include Mill Creek's Moneshia Simmons, Collins Hill's Jeff Glover, Wesleyan's Erin Hall and Jeremy Lamb from Norcross. "Gwinnett Prep Rally,: hosted by Daily Post editor Todd Cline and sports editor Will Hammock, airs Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV and each Wednesday-Friday at 7:30 a.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV.
