G-Braves announce promotions
The Gwinnett Braves announced their promotional schedule for this year's baseball games on Monday, including a pair of bobblehead doll giveaways for young Braves stars Jason Heyward and Tommy Hanson.
Heyward dolls will be given out May 1, followed by Hanson on May 15. Dolls of the team's mascot, Chopper, will be available June 19. The famous San Diego Chicken mascot also will make a return trip to Gwinnett on July 9.
A number of post-game fireworks displays are scheduled, including April 9, May 14, May 31, June 18, July 3, July 23 and Aug. 27.
Stars' Adams signs with Auburn
Providence Christian senior Caroline Adams has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Auburn.
The 6-foot-1 middle blocker led the Stars to a school-best 33-13 record last season and had 393 kills and 156 blocks. She also plays for the local A5 Volleyball Club.
NEA qualifies two for regionals
No Excuses Athletics, a Crossfit gym in Suwanee, had two athletes qualify for the CrossFit regionals on Sunday at Stone Mountain Park.
Collins Hill grads Ben Davis and Adrienne Clay placed 11th in the men's and women's division, respectively, at the two-day sectional event. The top 15 placers earned a spot to the CrossFit regional in Jacksonville, Fla., on May 28-30. No Excuses' Laura Koller was 18th in the women's division.
