LILBURN -- A 49-year-old Lilburn man has died two weeks after police found him soaked in blood in the breezeway of an apartment complex on Pleasant Hill Road, police said.
The case has been upgraded to a homicide investigation following Michael Peters' death Wednesday at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. No suspects have been identified.
In the wee hours of June 16, police responded to a medical assistance call at the Brentwood Downs Apartments near Lilburn, where they found Peters blood-soaked from what appeared to be blunt force trauma to his head, police said.
He also bore burn marks on his head and shoulders, which were being treated at the Atlanta hospital until his death.
While investigators interview potential witnesses and work leads, police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
