YOUTH ROUNDUP: Duluth Major wins district state title

The Duluth Major All Stars went 5-0 and won the Dixie Youth District 7 championship. The All-Stars beat the Grayson All Stars in the championship game. The Duluth Major All Stars will now advance to the Dixie Youth Georgia State Tournament, which will be held in Dalton on July 16.

Team members are Kyle Yancey, Jim Deitsch, Trey Harris, Chase Parker, Jacob Koerper, Noah Mills, Nick Solis, Jose Guevara, Devin Terry, Brendon Perez, Jacob Cruz and Omar Delgadillo. The team is coached by Kevin Yancey, Mike Harris and Jesse Cruz.

BASEBALL

Falcons claim state crown

The 13U Dacula Falcons won the USSSA AA Georgia State title in Conyers. The team went undefeated in the tournament and beat Eagles Baseball from Hampton 10-2 for the championship.

Team members are Austin Arnold, Brandon Barlan, Kyle Benton, Steven Bluse, Coleton Brindle, Chase Burns, Jack Clark, Jesse Dyer, Dylan Laurie, Brooks McDonel, Shawn McNeil and Gage Murray. The team is coached by Jim Bluse, Mark Clark, Pat Benton, Jim McDonel, Kevin Peck and Danny Burns. The season was dedicated to the memory of Coach John Laurie.

Brookwood Nationals win District 7 title

The Brookwood National All Stars went 5-0 to win the Dixie Youth District 7 Minor League All Star Championship and advance to the state championship. The State Championship will be held at George Pierce Park July 17.

On the way to the championship game, the Broncos defeated South Gwinnett 20-2, Norcross 14-2, Parkview 13-7, and Grayson 12-9. The Broncos played Norcross in the championship game and won 9-1.

Team members are Trey Bevan, Alex Amorose, Dexter Harris, Conner Chavis, Michael Hopf, Dawson Stancliff, Justin Oldknow, CJ Walker, Timmy Martin, Jack Oesterle, Ben Anderson, and Ryan Milovich. The team is coached by Ryan Oesterle, Rick Gangwisch, John Pepper, Steve Suggs and Jimmy Walker.

North wins district title

The North Gwinnett Pee Wee All-Star team won the Dixie Youth District 6 Pee Wee State Qualifier A championship at Buford City park. The Bulldogs beat the Mill Creek National team with a score 10-9.

Both teams will advance to the Dixie Youth Baseball state tournament in Leesburg.

Team members are Ian Cardenas, Luke Hardin, Craig Mitchell, Travis Buchanan, Jacob Vogel, Chase Coursey, Sean Spellacy, Chad English, J.R. Martin, Colin Smith, Brian McGlynn and Colby Blackwell. The team is coached by Larry Mitchell, Curt Vogel and Steve Hardin.

Hawks runner-up at district tourney

The Mill Creek Hawks National Division team was runner-up at the Dixie Youth District 6 tournament.

The Hawks, who were awarded the sportsmanship award, lost to North Gwinnett in the finals. Mill Creek hit the most home runs of any team in the tournament.

Team members are Grant Imahara, Dylan Adams, Mitchell Chastain, Jack Ihm, Jackson Buchanan and Tyler Martin, Jack Parker, James Mitchell, Ben Coker, Trey Mullins, Zach Gates and Connor Vaverek. The team is coached by David Imahara, Pat Mullins and A.J. Ihm.

Buford wins district title

The Buford Wolves T-ball team defeated the Mill Creek national team 17-9 to win the District 6 championship.

Team members are Owen Jenkins, Jake Brittle, Dre Styles, Clayton Jenkins, Blake Blume, Chase Reed, Matthew Laughlin, Mason Compton, Benjamin Cook, Garrett Ladd, Joshua Prince and Nicholas Warnstrom.

8U Select runner-up at tourney

The Georgia Select 8U team was runner-up at the Nations Baseball State tournament.

Team members are Carson Bennink, Ian King, Wesley Franklin, Blaine Marchman, Logan Arwood, Bowden Witcher, Matthew Griffin, Kobie Hinson, Griffin Autry and Chandler Head. The team is coached by Matt King, Curt Hinson and Brad Witcher.

10U Select win crown

The Georgia Select 10U won the Nations Baseball state championship.

Team members are Clay Baker, Parker Meadows, Justin Moss, Jacob-Ryan Richards, Casey Thurman, J.T. Ferebee, Cole McGaughey, Cole Yancey, Chase Degrenier, Ben Davis, Seth Clark and Hunter Cain. The team is coached by Kenny Meadows, Clint Ferebee and Greg Thurman.

11U Select white claims state title

The Georgia Select 11U White won the USSSA-A state championship.

Team members are Marshall Herget, Dawson Ballard, Sam Warren, Hunter Berkley, Jordan Beockman, Brady Abrahamsen, Jacob King, Davis Briscoe, Seth Dodson, Caleb Wilson and Tyler Hendricks. The team is coached by Russell Hendricks, Frank Warren and Craig Wilson.

11U Select Red wins state crown

The Georgia Select 11U Red won the USSSA-AAA state championship and were Nations Baseball state runner-up.

Team members are Ryan Vigue, Bay Witcher, Alex Hodges, Morgan Copeland, Brennan Carter, Tyler Kirkland, Spencer Lewis, Josh Sims, Marcellus Campbell, Michael Cherwenka and Charlie Greenich. The team is coached by Vince Kirkland, Scott Ward and Brad Witcher.

Hawks runner-up at tourney

The Mill Creek Hawks Southern Division T-ball team was runner-up in the District 6 tournament.

Team members are Brad Ihm, Jacob Gates, Dan Killian, Dillon Bullock, Ryan Svetz, Vachan Patel, Luke Erickson, Jackson Smith, Parker Torres, Jack Borden, Aidan Hinson and Connor Burt.

BASKETBALL

Heat Check team wins YBOA state title

The Gwinnett-based Heat Check 12-and-under boys basketball team recently won the YBOA state championship with a 49-28 win over the Atlanta Celtics Gold.

The team, coached by Jerome Weaver and Reggie Edwards, takes a 28-game winning streak into YBOA Nationals.

Members of the championship team are: Obinna Ofodile (Duluth Middle), Dijon Joseph (Twin Rivers), Max Byrd (Five Forks), Tyler Smith (Sweetwater), Nicholas Hayes (Creekland), Jamal Grisham (Creekland), Erick Montalvo (Twin Rivers), R.J. Walker (Buford), D'Marcus Simonds (Buford), Kai Lambert (Creekland), Everette Nicol (Creekland), Kevon Tucker (Dacula) and Sean Agnant (Crews).
