The 97 Georgia Impact won the Hall of Fame national qualifier in Oklahoma City, Okla., on June 11-13. The top eight teams from the tournament received a berth in the ASA Nationals in Bloomington, Ind., in August.
The Impact went 6-0 in the tournament and outscored their opponents 34-8 to become the third team from Georgia to ever win the tournament and the first 12U squad.
Team members are Kylie Bass, Bria Bush, Jordan Deep, Shemiah Sanchez, Arden Jobe, Tessa Daniels, Brittani Crawford, Hannah Morris, Stephanie Snyder, Bailey Crawford, Morgan Kazerooni and Haleigh Vernon. The team is coached by Buster Bass and Chad Crawford.
BASEBALL
Eagles defend county title
The Collins Hill 11U Eagles Green claimed their second consecutive Gwinnett County Championship on June 11.
Collins Hill was 17-1 during the regular season to claim the top seed in the 19-team Greater Gwinnett Baseball League.
The Eagles Green swept No. 2 seed Parkivew in the best of three finals for the championship. The team went undefeated in the tourney, outscoring their opponents 46-9 in six games.
Team members are James Civelli, Cameron Edwards, Mark Flores, Monty Horn, Austin Jett, Ryan Jones, Bradley Kallgren, Austin Mancilla, Porter Richards, Nicholas Topoleski and Jon Wyatt. The team is coached by Ted Kallgren and Tony Flores, Jimmy Richards and Tom Topoleski.
North rallies for county crown
North Gwinnett's 9U team won the Greater Gwinnett Baseball League championship with a 9-7 victory.
The Bulldogs and Wolves split the first two games of the three-game championship series at Buford City Parks. North trailed 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth when it rallied with two outs for eight runs to claim the title.
Team members are Chase McCulloch, Campbell Watkins, Will Bennett, Michael Borah, Sam Stewart, Tristan Bozoian, Justin Bullock, William Hunter, William Goldring, Kevin Carvalho and Austin Paschall. The team is coached by Mark Watkins, Ray Stewart, Blake Watkins, Ben Bullock and Keith Paschall.
Duluth Major claim title
The Duluth Majors went undefeated in the Mountain Park Invitational and beat the Mountain Park Blue team 11-0 in the championship game.
Kyle Yancey, Jim Deitsch, Trey Harris, Chase Parker, Jacob Koerper, Noah Mills, Nick Solis, Jose Guevara, Devin Terry, Brendon Perez, Jacob Cruz and Omar Delgadillo. The team is coached by Kevin Yancey, Mike Harris and Jesse Cruz.
