NORCROSS -- A Doraville man was struck by a pickup truck on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Norcross early Sunday morning, dying on the scene.

Police said alcohol may have been at play in the actions of 57-year-old Dennis Diresta, who wandered onto the highway near Medlock Bridge Road a few minutes after 12:30 a.m.

According to police, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was driving north in the right lane when the pedestrian "intended to walk eastbound across Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at a point other than at a published crosswalk."

The Silverado struck Diresta, who died as a result of his injuries while the driver reported the incident.
