DULUTH — The man found dead at the Bridgewater Apartments near Duluth has been identified as Deonte Moore, 19, of Norcross, a Gwinnett County police spokesman said Saturday.
Maintenance crews discovered Moore’s body in a wooded area behind an electrical box Friday morning. Moore appeared to have been shot at least once, spokesman Cpl. Brian Kelly said. “Detectives are currently pursuing all active and viable leads in an effort to identify and locate the criminals responsible for this shooting and murder,” Kelly said in a news release Saturday. “Evidence recovered at and near the scene indicates that this shooting may have been, in part, motivated by the illegal sales of drugs.” Police believe the fatal shooting may have happened Thursday evening at the apartment complex on Satellite Boulevard, when residents recalled hearing gunfire but didn’t call police, Kelly said. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300. Information can also be relayed through Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.More like this story
