NORFOLK, Va. — The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Norfolk Tides 4-0 at Harbor Park on Thursday night. In his most dominant start of the season, Chris Resop pitched a one-hit shutout. The win gave G-Braves Manager Dave Brundage his 900th career victory.
After giving up a soft line drive to Rhyne Hughes in the second inning, Resop retired the next 22 batters. Resop (5-2) went the distance, allowing no earned runs, while posting eight strikeouts and no walks. Matt Young was 2-for-5 with a double, while Barbaro Canizares was 2-for-4. Freddie Freeman had two RBIs and a walk for the G-Braves (27-33). In his Triple-A debut, Tim Bascum went seven innings, yielding three earned runs while giving up six hits and striking out six for the Tides (27-35). Jim Miller pitched in relief and finished with two innings pitched, one run and two hits. Rhyne Hughes (1-for-3) recorded the only hit for the Tides.More like this story
