Eagles win passing camp
ATHENS -- Led by quarterback Taylor Heinicke, Collins Hill won the Mark Richt Passing League Camp last weekend at the University of Georgia.
The Eagles were 8-1 in the tournament, beating McEachern in the finals and Buford in the semifinals of the 19-team tournament.
"It was good competition," Collins Hill coach Kevin Reach said. "It was a good way to start the summer."
Collins Hill will participate in the Gwinnett County passing league the remainder of the summer.
Dacula's Konkle third on Hurricane Junior Tour
Mitchel Konkle of Dacula placed third in the boys 16- to 19-year-old division of the Bermuda Run Junior Open, a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event this past weekend.
Konkle shot 75 and 76, while fellow Dacula resident Justin Grimaldi shot 84 and 80, tying for sixth in the boys 13- to 15-year-old division.
The Hurricane Tour returns to Georgia June 21-22 for the Lake Lanier Junior Classic at the Legacy on Lanier Golf Club. Local junior golfers interested in playing can sign up before Friday at www.hjgt.org or by calling 904-379-2697.
Local golfers win on AGA
Peter Kim of Lilburn and Phil Hoddy of Buford each won flight titles at a recent Amateur Golfers Association Tour stop at the Legacy on Lanier Golf Club. Kim won the first flight with a 75 and Hoddy won the fourth flight with an 86.
Flowery Branch's Terry Dunn (76) won the third flight, while Duluth's Norm Patterson (79 in second flight) and Chuck Perry (79 in third flight) had runner-up finishes.
During an AGA Tour event at Settindown Creek, Duluth's Jim Indermill won the fourth flight with an 85 and Duluth's Randy Daniel (85) was second in the third flight.
