James A. Schwickert, age 77 of Gahanna, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010. James was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan, son of the late Albert and Helen Schwickert. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Schwickert, grandson, Aaron Schneider, and son-in-law, Matt Schneider. Following high school, James went on to attend Purdue University, and was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean War. James later graduated from The Ohio State University where he earned a Professional Engineer Degree. James possessed great leadership skills and had previously been named Engineer of the Year through Rockwell International. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf, but most importantly he enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. His positive influence and wisdom is something his family will always cherish. He will be missed by his children, Steven (Cathy) Schwickert, Lorie Redd, Kathleen (Edward) Benson, and Susan Schneider; grandchildren, Brian and Chelsea Schwickert, Stephanie (Patrick) Zarek, Garrett Redd, Daniel and Steven Benson, Ashley Bays, and Carley Schneider; great grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, and Alyanna; sister, Barbara Woods; dear friend, Margie Limberg; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1000 Noe Bixby Rd. Family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Friday at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E.
