Kate Gervais of Lawrenceville was awarded the Junior Insight Award during the Department of English and Philosophy’s annual English Awards Program at the University of West Georgia.

Sumner Gann of Lawrenceville was named recipient of the Academic Recognition Day Scholar Award at the University of West Georgia’s annual Academic Honors Convocation. Gann also received the Willie Maude Thompson English Scholarship at the Department of English and Philosophy’s annual English Awards Program.

Matthew Wheeler of Lawrenceville was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at the University of Alabama. He was inducted into the University of Alabama chapters of Phi Eta Sigma and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He will soon be inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta. He is the son of Chip and Debbie Wheeler of Lawrenceville.

Diana Cica of Lawrenceville has earned an associate degree in science in nursing from Excelsior College.

Thomas Owen Gormley graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and commerce on May 9. He is the son of Tommy and Karen Gormley of Lawrenceville and is a graduate of Brookwood High School.
