BUFORD — A Buford church will be hosting stroke and osteoporosis screenings in July.
On July 1, the New Life Christian Fellowship Church of God will be offering screenings to help reduce residents’ chances of having a stroke or bone fracture, done by Life Line Screening.
According to Life Line, the nation’s leading provider in preventative screening, stroke is the third-leading cause of death and a leading cause of permanent disability. Eighty percent of stroke victims had no apparent warning signs prior to their emergency.
Bone density screenings help assess risk for osteoporosis, which causes bones to become more likely to become weak and fracture. According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, women are four times as likely to suffer from the disease as men.
The set of five screenings available in Buford takes 60 to 90 minutes and starts at $139.
