5 charged in gun incident

CONYERS -- A 20-year-old and four teens were arrested Thursday night in connection with a gun incident in a south Rockdale County neighborhood.

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office arrested Ja-Shaun Quamel Hall, 1780 Rolling Hills Trail, 20, and charged him with terroristic threats and acts, reckless conduct, and possession of a handgun by someone under 21 years old.

Hall allegedly brandished a handgun in an incident that occurred on a street in the Stanton Ridge subdivision around 8 p.m.

According to Rockdale County Sheriff Jeff Wigington, a car with five black men was driving in the neighborhood when one of them yelled at a girl standing in a front yard of a residence.

The girl, whose age was not available, yelled back and at that point the car stopped and the men got out and allegedly confronted the girl. During the confrontation one of the men allegedly lifted up his shirt to show the girl that he had a gun in the waistline of his pants, Wigington said.

Someone in the neighborhood called 911, and RCSO deputies responded quickly to the area. Wigington said the car suspected in the incident was stopped near the subdivision's entrance on Cindy Drive, and it was determined the gun involved was tossed out somewhere in the neighborhood.

A handgun suspected as the one used in the incident was found following a search of the area, Wigington said.

The other men arrested with Hall were each charged with one count of being a party to a crime. They were Laddarrius M. Robinson, 2984 Parkmoor Drive, 19, Brandon Jamal Gilchrist, 3894 Carriage Lane, 18, Rayshish Kwame Kimber, 312 Windsor Walk, 18, and Tevaun Lloyd Wilson, 3011 Kesmond Drive, 19.

All five were taken to the Rockdale County Jail.
