BOAZ, Ala. -- Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis says four men and a woman from Huntsville have been arrested in connection with the theft of cell phones from Walmart stores in Georgia and Alabama.
Davis says the five were arrested Sunday at a Walmart in Boaz with 19 cell phones still in their packaging.
He says it was determined that 19 cell phones also were taken from a Walmart in Snellville, Ga., on Sunday.
Those arrested also are charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and first-degree theft of property in thefts from the Guntersville Walmart on July 13 in which cell phones worth $6,500 were taken.
Boaz police have been working on the case with police departments in Guntersville, Talladega, Snellville, Cullman, Marietta, Ga., and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
