Gwinnett Daily Post
LAWRENCEVILLE -- For the second time this season and second time since coming to Gwinnett, rain stopped the G-Braves before they even started.
The storms that arrived in northern Gwinnett County about 5 p.m. never let up at Coolray Field and the lightning and thunder only increased as game time approached. By 7:30 p.m., crew chief Jon Merry called the game, sending the handful of patient fans home.
The G-Braves' scheduled game against the Louisville Bats was the last set meeting for the two teams this season so no make-up will be scheduled. The only reason the teams will make up the meeting will be if it's needed to clear up the International League's playoff picture. With the Bats11/2 games out in the Wild Card, that is a possibility. The make-up game would be Sept. 7 at Coolray Field. The G-Braves are eight games out in the Wild Card and 151/2 in the South Division.
The G-Braves' first rainout, June 15 against Durham, will be made up in a seven-inning double-header at Coolray Field on Aug. 14. The G-Braves start a four-game series with Rochester at 7 p.m. today. Chris Resop will return to the G-Braves for a major league rehab start. The Red Wings will start RHP Matt Fox (5-7, 4.09 ERA).
