Youth Roundup: Easton Elite 10U earns trip to fastpitch nationals

The '99 Easton Elite fastpitch softball team won the ASA South Atlantic Regional Qualifier in Spartanburg, S.C., securing a trip to 10-and-under ASA Nationals in Chattanooga.

The team, coached by Bill Batchelor and Ken Hobbs, defeated the Mountain Fury (N.C.) 14-1, the Browns Mill Lady Jackets 4-3 and the Charlotte Blaze (N.C.) 8-5 in the tourney.

Members of the first-place team are include Conner Batchelor, Kaedy Borst, McKayla Doss, Allie Head, Lizzy Hellsten, Karley Hobbs, Amanda Hopkins, Jennifer Milstein, Bianca Rudnik and Celeste Turner.

SOFTBALL

Eagles headed to nationals

The '97 Collins Hill Eagles fastpitch softball team finished second in a recent qualifier in South Carolina, earning a spot at ASA Nationals next month in Bloomington, Ind.

Members of the team going to nationals are: Becca Meade, Abbey Mitchell, Danielle Barajas, Korbin Caldwell, Gabby Puckett, Avery Reppel, Macy Stovall, Emily Crocker, Courtney Space, Tyra Holliday and Kayla Louie.

Georgia Impact Gold wins state

Four Gwinnett players helped the 1995 Georgia Impact Gold 14-and-under fastpitch softball team to first place in the ASA State Softball Championship.

The local players on the roster are Peachtree Ridge's Samantha Pierannunzi and Kayla Jones, and North Gwinnett's Miranda and Moriah Strother.

BASEBALL

Duluth squad makes Final Four

The Duluth Major All-Stars won the Dixie Youth District 7 championship, outscoring the opposition 42-1, and advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament. The team is coached by Kevin Yancey, Mike Harris and Jesse Cruz.

Duluth's players are: Kyle Yancey, Jim Deitsch, Trey Harris, Chase Parker, Jacob Koerper, Noah Mills, Nick Solis, Jose Guevara, Devin Terry, Brendon Perez, Jacob Cruz and Omar Delgadillo.

Broncos make state semis

The Brookwood National All-Stars reached the semifinals of the Dixie Youth Minor League State Championship, finishing the event with a 7-2 record.

Members of the Brookwood team are: Trey Bevan, Alex Amorose, Dexter Harris, Conner Chavis, Jackson Fruit, Dawson Stancliff, Justin Oldknow, C.J. Walker, Timmy Martin, Jack Oesterle, Ben Anderson and Ryan Milovich. The Broncos are coached by Ryan Oesterle, Rick Gangwisch, Jimmy Walker, Steve Suggs and John Pepper.
