Gwen Mauldin

Gwendolyn Mildred (Maddox) Mauldin, age 88, of Dacula, Georgia, formerly of Buford, died Sunday, July 11th following a year long battle with Alzheimer's. Gwen was born in Jackson County on October 2, 1921. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Julia (Richardson) Maddox, husband, Ernest Ray Mauldin; son, Walter Mauldin; and daughter, Ann (Mauldin) Prescott; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bud and Onedia Maddox, Eddie and Ethelda Maddox, and Ralph and Jeanette Maddox; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannette (Maddox) and J. B. Reed; brother-in-law, Bud Haynes; and son-in-law, Euel (Fuzz) Waldrip. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Kay Mauldin of Dacula; daughter, Jean Waldrip of Grayson; son-in-law, Buford Prescott of Dacula; grandchildren, Nathan and Jake Mauldin of Dacula, Tammy Aldridge of Hiram, Rodney and Gloria Waldrip of Raburn Gap, Robin and Donna Waldrip of Dacula, Lisa (Waldrip) Culver of Loganville; great grandchildren, Austin, Audrey and Annabelle Aldridge of Hiram, Kelli (Waldrip) Brooks of Monroe, Ryan and Kerri (Waldrip) Mills of Lilburn, Kyle and Kristi (Waldrip) Glass of Loganville, Justin Mays of Loganville, Bradley and Steven Waldrip of Dacula; great great-grandchildren, Eli Brooks, Graeson and Avery Mills, Kylie, Kameron and Kayden Glass; sister, Mrs. Beatrice Haynes of Hull; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Ellen Maddox of Riverdale; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Mauldin was a long time member of Duncan Creek Congregational Church. She worked hard all her life at various places including; Genesco as a machine operator, Dolco Packaging as a machine operator, Hardee's Restaurant in Buford making biscuits as well as training employees from other stores to make biscuits, and finally at Wal-Mart in Buford as a door greeter, which was her greatest joy in later years. Visitation will be Monday, July 12th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 13th from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home.
