SUWANEE -- A Gwinnett County Public Schools administrator will update the board Thursday evening on the school openings planned for August.
The Gwinnett County Board of Education's regular monthly business meeting begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Instructional Support Center, 437 Old Peachtree Road N.W., in August.
Seven new schools are set to open for the upcoming school year, which begins Aug. 9. Those schools are Anderson-Livsey Elementary in the Shiloh cluster, Ferguson Elementary in the Meadowcreek cluster, Jenkins Elementary in the Central Gwinnett cluster, Burnette Elementary in the Peachtree Ridge cluster, Roberts Elementary in the North Gwinnett cluster, Grace Snell Middle in the South Gwinnett cluster and Lanier High School.
Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology has also moved into its new facility in Lawrenceville.
With the opening of these eight new buildings, Gwinnett County Public Schools will operate 130 facilities starting in August. This total number of schools includes 19 high schools, 25 middle schools, 77 elementary schools and nine special entities.
