LAWRENCEVILLE -- The application deadline for Georgia Gwinnett College's fall semester is the earliest it's ever been.
The deadline to apply for the semester that begins Aug. 23 is Thursday.
"Our growth now requires that we set a deadline to ensure that all applications are fully processed in time," said Laura Ledford, executive director of enrollment management. "We expect about 5,000 students this fall and can no longer accept last-minute applications."
Georgia Gwinnett College opened in 2006 with about 120 students. About 3,200 were enrolled at the public state college this spring.
The college is also accepting applications for rooms in its new residence halls. About 1,000 students will live in the new facility, which has suites of two to 12 private bedrooms and shared kitchenette and living spaces.
"Now that we have campus housing, we expect the number of students from outside of the immediate Gwinnett area to increase," Ledford said. "As of this summer, we are making a historic transformation from a commuter-only school to a full-service residential campus."
Prospective students can call the Office of Admissions at 678-407-5313 or visit www.ggc.edu to apply for the fall semester or space in the student residence halls.
