LILBURN -- A leader on the national political scene has endorsed state Rep. David Casas in his run for re-election.
Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida who is the brother of former President George W. Bush, praised Casas, R-Lilburn, for his leadership on education issues.
"David has my endorsement as an unwavering conservative," said Bush, who is also the son of former President George H.W. Bush. "We need more leaders like him. David has demonstrated his commitment to education reform by putting children first -- no matter what the political risk. Georgia and Gwinnett County are fortunate to have such a rising star among its ranks."
Casas, who has served in the Georgia House since 2002, pushed 2008 legislation that created the Tuition Tax Credit program, and he co-authored legislation to created the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship, which was based on a Florida program.
