LAWRENCEVILLE -- Police have arrested a Lawrenceville man on vehicular homicide charges in a crash that killed a 71-year-old woman last month.
Robert Salva-Rosado, 23, was booked Wednesday on charges of misdemeanor vehicular homicide, failure to maintain a lane and not wearing a seat belt.
The two-car crash happened in the wee hours of June 28 on Old Norcross Road, between Boggs Road and Old Victorian Drive.
Investigators believe Salva-Rosado was eastbound in a 2003 Honda Civic when he lost control, slid into the westbound lanes and collided with a 2007 Toyota Camry containing four Lilburn residents.
All occupants of both vehicles were transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, where the Camry's front passenger, Kamersult Husnani, 71, died from her injuries, police said.
Injuries to Husnani's family members in the Camry were not life-threatening. They included a 76-year-old rear passenger and 5-year-old girl, along with the driver, Ahmed Husnani, 43.
Salva-Rosado initially told police his wife was driving the vehicle but later copped to being the sole occupant, police said.
He has since posted $8,300 bond and was released from the Gwinnett County Jail.
