The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (NR)
Movie: 3 1/2 out of 4 stars
Disc: 3 out of 4 stars
Still playing in many art-house theaters and already slated for an English language remake, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is based on the first installment in late author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy. It’s “Murder, She Wrote” or an old Agatha Christie tome with a Punk Rock/Riot Grrrl heroine partnered with a disgraced journalist who are hired by a dying patriarch to solve the mysterious 40-year-old death of his niece. The somewhat tedious mid-section is more than made up for with a slam-dunk, jaw-dropping ending that will surely prod audiences into repeated viewings.
