Dacula's Harvey commits to Shorter
Robert Harvey, a recent Dacula grad, has committed to the Shorter College track and field program. Harvey was a two-sport standout for the Falcons, winning the Class AAAAA state championship in the shot put and was fifth in the discus. Harvey was also a two-year starter on the football team and played in the Gwinnett County All-Star game.
Lions' Louchart signs with South Dakota program
Austin Louchart, a 2010 Peachtree Ridge grad, has signed a letter of intent with the football program at the South Dakota School of Mines, an NAIA program in Rapid City, S.D. Louchart was a two-year starter on the offensive line for the Lions, helping them to back-to-back state playoff berths.
Burger third at Georgia Top 60 Women's Classic
n Mill Creek grad Emilie Burger, a rising sophomore golfer at Georgia, placed third at last week's Georgia Top 60 Women's Classic, a Georgia State Golf Association event designed to showcase the state's top amateur players.
Burger shot 69 for the first-round lead and finished with a 77. She also was third in the championship flight, which also featured a 10th-place finish from Braselton's Abby Johnson (77-81).
Jackie Rajek, a 2010 Collins Hill grad, won the second flight with rounds of 86 and 76 and North Gwinnett grad Alicia Poole (83-80) won the third flight.
