Man indicted on child molestation

LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Buford man was indicted on six charges Wednesday stemming from a months-long period in which he reportedly seduced and had sexual intercourse with a minor.

Over a time period spanning December to February, police said Terry Lee Smith sent graphic cell phone pictures of himself to the girl before touching and eventually raping her.

Smith was taken into custody on April 8 and remains in Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

Smith has been indicted on charges of electronic pornography and child exploitation, statutory rape, two counts of child molestation and criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation.

Quartet indicted for pot trafficking

Four men alleged to have been trafficking marijuana out of a Duluth rental property were indicted Wednesday.

According to HIDTA officers, Juan Carlos Sanchez, Ismael Rodriguez-Ramos, Alejandro Turruviartes-Aguilar and Camarino Turruviartes-Aguilar were found to be in possession of almost 700 pounds of pot on March 30.

In April, officers testified that upon entering the property, they found 22-pound bales of marijuana "exposed and in plain view." Some of the 685 pounds found were packaged in microwave boxes, concealed with false microwave tops.

All four men have been in Gwinnett County Jail since April 5, and have been indicted on trafficking charges.
