The Gwinnett Braves will have a pair of representatives at the 2010 AAA All-Star Game on July 14 at Coca-Cola Field in Allentown, Pa.
First baseman/designated hitter Barbaro Canizares will be making his third straight All-Star appearance, while Mike Dunn, a left-handed relief pitcher, will make his first when the International League All-Stars take on the Pacific Coast League All-Stars in a game broadcast live on the MLB Network.
Canizares leads the G-Braves with a .313 batting average, which includes an 11-game hitting streak from April 29-May 12, plus his current seven-game streak in which he has hit .391 (9-for-23) with two home runs and six RBIs. He has five homers and 33 RBIs for the season.
Dunn, who was selected to the All-Star game of the AA Eastern League last year, is 2-0 with six saves, a 0.70 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 381⁄3 innings this season. His season includes a stretch of 172⁄3 innings in which he did not allow a run, and he has the highest strikeouts per nine innings ratio of any IL reliever at 12. 29.
