MOVIE REVIEW: Leaps and Bounds: Adams, Goode save average romantic comedy

Having proven her mettle in both arthouse ("Sunshine Cleaning," "Junebug") and mainstream ("Julie & Julia," "Enchanted") productions, girl-next-door Amy Adams takes a stab at an assembly line romantic comedy with "Leap Year." It's not horrible, but neither is it anything you have to see immediately. Considering it is being released on one of the most undesirable weekends of the year, it could have been a lot worse.

Disc Spotlight: Jennifer's Body (Blu-ray)

This follow-up to Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody's "Juno" is a mash-up of the snarky high school satire a la "Heathers" and blood-soaked horror B-films and is far deeper than most critics or audiences realized. Poking fun at her own public image, Megan Fox stars as the title character, a cheerleader-turned-groupie who manipulates her sycophant best friend (Amanda Seyfried) both before and after becoming undead. The commentary by director Karyn Kusama and Cody is often funnier and more enlightening than what's taking place on screen.

MOVIE REVIEW: A whole new world: Director offers magic, fantasy in philosophical 'Parnassus'

Considering the conditions director Terry Gilliam faced in finishing his acid trip of a movie after the death of leading man Heath Ledger during principal photography, it's amazing this film makes any sense at all.

MOVIE REVIEW: No love lost: Howard delivers poor acting in 'Loss of a Teardrop Diamond'

It happens about once a decade. Someone somewhere stumbles upon a previously unknown work by a major, long-gone artist and for a brief while, everyone is giddy. In theory, finding an unproduced play by Tennessee Williams is the literary equivalent of a new Mozart symphony or a Picasso painting.

MOVIE REVIEW: Cera tries to break nice-guy mold in 'Youth in Revolt'

In the space of just two years, the 21-year-old Michael Cera has established himself as the go-to nice guy arthouse movie teen. The characters he plays are sometimes dim, always timid and virtually interchangeable. Even when appearing in the recent documentary "Paper Heart" as himself, Cera essentially duplicates his cloyingly meek screen persona.
