ATHENS, Ala. -- Authorities say a Georgia man may have been trying to send a text message during a deadly crash in north Alabama.
State troopers and the Limestone County coroner said 23-year-old Feliciano Diaz-Perez of Lilburn allegedly ran a red light on U.S. 72 on Thursday morning. His vehicle collided with a car driven by 59-year-old Edna Taylor Barker Harris, killing her.
Troopers said the man might have been trying to send a text message while driving at the time of the wreck.
No charges were filed, but prosecutors will review the case once an investigation is complete.
Harris was a longtime employee of the state prison in Limestone County.
