SUGAR HILL -- A Sugar Hill man is behind bars on sex-trafficking charges after police said he forced a 14-year-old girl into having sex with him and four others.

The alleged victim told police Carlos Ramirez, 33, threatened her into various sex acts during a 10-month span beginning in February at his former residence on Gold Creek Trail in Buford.

An investigation corroborated the victim's statements and gave police enough probable cause for Ramirez's arrest Wednesday, said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly.

Ramirez is being held without bond on charges of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude, aggravated child molestation and statutory rape.

The four other men Ramirez forced the girl to have sex with have not been identified, Kelly said.

The victim told police Ramirez used "a variety of threats and intimidation to maintain her compliance with his demands," he said.

Kelly wouldn't say exactly how police became privy to the alleged operation. The origins of Ramirez's relationship with the victim are unknown, he said.

"It was brought to our attention by parties concerned with the child's welfare," Kelly said.

Ramirez's arrest record in Gwinnett dates back to 1998 and includes eight previous incidents, ranging from allegations of DUI to aggravated assault.

The Daily Post does not identify victims in sexual abuse cases.
