Medical Center hosts breakfast on heart health
LAWRENCEVILLE Gwinnett Medical Center and Partnership Gwinnett will host a free breakfast event on heart health from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Feb. 11 at Georgia Gwinnett College, Cisco Auditorium, Building C. The event, titled "The Heart Truth: An In-Depth Investigation," will include a keynote speaker from GMC's Cardiology Department and a panel of speakers from the hospital's Wellness, Exercise and Chest Pain departments. Funds donated will go to the GMC Foundation and Partnership Gwinnett, an economic development plan launched by the Gwinnett Chamber of commerce that will serve to create more than 65,000 new jobs and $5.8 million in net wealth in Gwinnett within the next five years, to assist with economic development and physician recruitment in Gwinnett. Speakers will provide tips on staying healthy and preventing heart disease, and an update will be provided on the open heart program. An RSVP is requested at www.gmc-rsvp.org. Barrow to offer flu vaccines BRASELTON On Thursday, the Barrow County Health Department will offer free H1N1 vaccination and seasonal flu vaccine for $10 between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Braselton Municipal Court/Police Building.
