Estero, Fla. The Gwinnett Gladiators dropped their fourth consecutive game, losing to the Florida Everblades 5-1 on Saturday night at the Germain Arena.
Gwinnett drops to 18-17-3-2 on the season with the loss. Gwinnett is now 8 points out of third place in the ECHL's South Division.
Danny Taylor posted 15 saves in the first period for the Gladiators to keep the game scoreless after the opening stanza. The netminder made a sprawling save with seven seconds left in the first period as the Everblades out-shot Gwinnett 15-6 through the first 20 minutes.
Florida broke the scoreless tie in the second period on a goal by Ross Carlson 5:58 into the period.
Mike Bayrack pushed the Everblades lead to 2-0, deflecting the puck past Taylor at 6:55 of the period.
Gwinnett got back within a goal on the power play at 11:28 of the second period. Dan Sullivan found a loose puck in the slot and ripped a slap shot over a sprawled Barry Brust for his fifth goal of the season.
The Everblades regained the two-goal advantage on Gajic's second goal of the season.
Bayrack notched his second marker of the contest with 54 seconds left in the middle stanza to give the Everblades a 4-1 lead.
Brandon Buck rounded out the scoring in the contest with just one second left in the third period sliding the puck past Taylor for the marker.
