LETTERS: Cook a role model for all human beings

I recently read the column sports editor Will Hammock wrote about Jason Cook ("FCA job fits North Gwinnett grad Jason Cook perfectly," Jan. 7, Page 1B) and his job as the team chaplain for the Ole Miss football team, and I wanted to let you know that you hit the nail on the head.

I've known Jason since I was a freshman at North Gwinnett High School, where he took me under his wing and helped my transition into varsity football and high school. Over the years, I've kept in contact with him, calling him every week, texting before games on Saturdays, grabbing a drink when we are both in town during holidays, so on and so forth. The amazing thing is Jason has stayed the same grounded, God-will-lead-me-where-I-need-to-go person the entire time.

He has never once shown any hint of ego or allowed his star to shine brighter than it actually is. Jason is and always has been the most gracious, humble, generous, kind, caring human being that I know. I am truly blessed to have him as such a good friend.

The world needs more Jason Cooks.
