SNELLVILLE In the coming days, Emory Eastside Medical Center, along with H2U Health to You, will host a community health screening and a seminar on total knee replacement.
Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., the health screening will be held in classrooms No. 1 and 2 and will include the following screenings:
Fasting blood sugar, $3.80;
Cholesterol, $5; and
Total lipid profile, $17.80.
No appointment is necessary, but officials said those wishing to be screened should bring their physician's name, address and zip code with them.
Participants must be at least 18 years old, must fast beginning at 8 p.m. today, consuming only enough water to take required medication, and should wear short sleeves.
A copy of the results will be mailed directly to participants and their physicians.
Also available, officials said, will be Mary Hudgins, providing stroke prevention information and free stroke assessments.
The service is a collaborative effort between Emory Eastside and H2U, a health care organization that empowers its members to manage their health and live a healthy lifestyle.
At 2 p.m. Jan. 27, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. W. Kehne Moeller will speak during the H2U general meeting on "Total Knee Replacement in 2010" at the Snellville Senior Center, 2350 Oak Road.
Moeller is a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and The Medical Association of Georgia.
