Air Force Airman Darren E. Sligh graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Sligh is the son of Juan Sligh of Norcross and Angela Scott of Stone Mountain and is a 2007 graduate of Redan High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Daniel Millard graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Susan and Robert Millard of Lawrenceville and graduated from Peachtree Ridge High School in 2009.

Army Spec. Paul A. Leyva graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus. Leyva is the son of Richard Leyva of Lilburn and received a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University in 2003.

Army Staff Sgt. David Hall has been named Drill Sergeant of the Month. Hall is a 2001 graduate from Parkview High School and is the son of Wynne Chambers of Lilburn. He is assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning.

Army National Guard Spec. William Barnett has returned to the U.S. after a deployment overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Barnett is the son of William E. Barnett of Lithonia and Grace L. Hines of Farmington Hills, Mich., while his wife, Kathryn, is the daughter of Mary L. Green of Snellville.

Army National Guard Pvt. Daniel C. Millard graduated from the Field Artillery Automated Tactical Systems Specialist Advanced Individual Training Course at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. Millard, a 2009 graduate of Peachtree Ridge High School, is the son of Susan J. and Robert F. Millard of Lawrenceville. He is assigned to the 48th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill.

Navy Seaman Recruit Joseph A. Gross, the son of Dawn M. Kampman of Snellville and Michael A. Gross of Marietta, completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Gross is a 2006 graduate of South Gwinnett High School.

Army 2nd Lt. Dustin K. Davis has entered into the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., as a first-year medical student. He is the son of Robert K. Davis of Norcross and Linda S. McCall of Lawrenceville. Davis is a 2003 graduate of Berkmar High School and received his bachelor's degree in 2006 from Georgia State University.
