Cupid's arrow strikes Sugar Hill seniors

SUGAR HILL — In an early celebration of Valentine's Day, the city of Sugar Hill will present its third annual Senior Valentine's Dance on Feb. 6 at the Sugar Hill Community Center.

Organizers said it's a chance for seniors to enjoy an evening with that someone special or to possibly meet someone new in their community.

Recreation Manager Darcee Shafer said that if the previous two events are any indication, it'll be a packed house come party time.

"They love it," she said. "They wish we could do it every month."

The free event will feature refreshments, Valentine pictures and live entertainment from The Junction, a popular — the most popular, organizers said, to emerge from the dirt roads of metro Atlanta — local Country and Western swing band.

Whether waltzing or just mingling is your thing, organizers invite seniors from all over to get dressed up (dancing shoes optional) and "go back in time with candy hearts, great music and magical memories to carry on for years to come."

The dance is scheduled from 7 until 9:30 p.m.
