DULUTH -- A suspect who was fired at by a Gwinnett County police officer Saturday evening has been identified.
Duluth resident Gary Jarrell, 51, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and obstruction of a law enforcement officer following an incident that occurred in the driveway of his home.
Gwinnett police responded Saturday to a report of a domestic dispute involving two households in which shots had reportedly been fired. When officers arrived at 2637 Old Peachtree Road in Duluth, they encountered Jarrell outside his neighbor's home. When confronted by the officers, Jarrell reportedly fled down his 1/2- to 3/4-mile gravel driveway.
Confronted by police again just outside his home, he made what Detective James Flanagan described as "threatening and furtive movements," and an officer opened fire, missing Jarrell, who was taken into custody shortly after.
None of the responding officers nor any participants in the initial domestic dispute were injured during the incident.
