ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Adrian Hubbard took time off from the Norcross basketball team to play in the Under Armour All-American Game and he put his football ability on display for a national television audience as well as recruiting analysts.
Hubbard, who joined the Blue Devils football team as a senior after concentrating on basketball the year before, raised his profile dramatically with three tackles, two of which were for a loss, one sack, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.
It was that kind of pass-rush potential that caught the eye of college recruiters and the 6-foot-7 Hubbard committed to Alabama after a late-season visit.
Hubbard was one of three Gwinnett players in the game, which was played at Tropicana Field. Also seeing action were offensive linemen Ja'Wuan James of North Gwinnett and Kolton Houston on Buford. James has committed to Tennessee and Houston is headed to Georgia.
Loganville's Storm Johnson was the leading rusher in the game, won 32-7 by Team Blurr. The transfer from Buford had 30 yards in seven carries.
Eight players from Georgia were selected for the game, with Westlake linebacker Michael Taylor taking MVP honors for the winning team.
