GAINESVILLE -- A former Forsyth County deputy was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison Friday for receiving child pornography.
Milton Scott Pruitt, 41, was convicted on July 22, 2009, after a three-day trial.
According to reports, Pruitt was a sergeant supervising an overnight shift on March 15, 2007, when he used his in-car laptop to access child pornography stored in a detective's computer file. His actions were later discovered and reported by someone in the information technology department.
Pruitt admitted viewing the images but told a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent he was "just curious."
The GBI seized Pruitt's home computer, which reportedly contained more than a hundred images of child pornography and numerous Internet searches for such images.
Upon his release from prison, Pruitt will serve 10 years of supervised release.
