Movie: 4 stars out of 4
Discs: 3 1/2 stars out of 4
Based on the Nicholas Pileggi book "Wise Guy," "GoodFellas" marked director Martin Scorsese's career high point and might be the greatest mob movie of all-time. Relatable to the common man in a way "The Godfather" trilogy was not, Scorsese's scorching epic covering the career of mid-level hood-turned-informant Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) is an acting, storytelling and technical masterpiece. Most of the extras have been released on previous DVD editions, but the beefy, revamped soundtrack makes the Blu-ray a must-own for all die-hards and techno geeks.
Technical specs: aspect ratio: Widescreen (1080p/1.85:1), audio: English (5.1 Dolby Digital DTS-HD), subtitles: English SDH, French and Spanish.
Special features:
* Cast and filmmaker commentary
* "Crook & the Cop" commentary
* Storyboards
* New interview with Henry Hill
* Three featurettes
Warner Bros., $34.99.
