LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett Senior Leadership is now accepting nominations and applications for its 2010-11 leadership class.
The nomination deadline is July 2, and the application deadline is July 30.
Gwinnett Senior Leadership is now entering its third year partnering with Gwinnett Technical College. Both Gwinnett Tech and the Gwinnett Tech Foundation continue to assist and support Gwinnett seniors.
Gwinnett Senior Leadership chair Elliott Brack and vice chair Bill Barry, along with general chair Tom Travis, will welcome the 2010-11 class at a reception in August. The class meets for program days the third Wednesday of each month from September through May.

Preschool raises $1,000 for St. Jude
SUWANEE -- The Academy of Golden Rules participated in the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon program and raised $1,000 to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the premier center for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
More than 13 children participated the week-long program while learning riding toy safety lessons and raising money for St. Jude. The week ended with the participants brining their tricycles and riding toys to school and practicing the rules they learned.
The Academy of Golden Rules Christian Preschool community sponsored participants by pledging an amount-per-lap the children rode or a one-time donation.
GCPS among top employers
LAWRENCEVILLE -- A national publication recently unveiled its list of "The Top 100 Employers of the Class of 2010," naming Gwinnett County Public Schools as a top U.S. employer.
Black Collegian Magazine, a career and self-development magazine for black college students, recognized the school system's recruiting and retaining practices in its January issue, placing GCPS at No. 24.
The school system joins other national organizations on the top U.S. employers list such as Enterprise Rent-A-Car at No. 1, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network at No. 23, and Schlumberger at No. 25.
With more than 22,000 employees, GCPS is the largest employer in Gwinnett County and is one of the largest employers in Georgia. A growing school district, GCPS started the 2009-10 school year with more than 2,000 new students, bringing the district's total enrollment to 160,000 students. By the start of the school year in August, the school system had hired 700 new teachers.
