LAWRENCEVILLE -- While Gwinnett's Magistrate Court has canceled its Valentine's Day weddings for the first time in a decade, couples will still have the opportunity to renew their vows at the county courthouse.
Lawrenceville Mayor Rex Millsaps will perform ceremonies beginning at 4 p.m. at the historic courthouse, located in the city square.
"We've gotten to the place where we think everything is disposable," said Nattalie Rush of the North Atlanta Family Network. "But there are couples who are committed to their relationship and committed to their vows. That is something worth celebrating."
Rush, who plans to renew her vows with husband Glenn, said the event is part of a celebration of Georgia Marriage Week. Ceremonies have been held throughout the state this week.
