DULUTH Jeannine Simmons will be moving forward with her plans to remodel her upstairs bathroom after Friday.
The Lawrenceville resident attended the opening day of the Georgia Home & Garden Show at the Gwinnett Center, where she decided to go with the company Bath Fitter, which provides bathroom remodeling products and services and completes installation in just one day. What: Georgia Home & Garden Show When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday Where: Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth Cost: $7 for adults, $6 for seniors 65 and older and free for children 12 and younger For more information: Visit www.atlantahomeshow.com "My mission today was to come and make my decisions and go ahead with my project," said Simmons, who has been planning to renovate her upstairs bathroom for the past two years. "I had already done research and I was familiar with (Bath Fitters) and I have made my decision." Simmons plans to have new sinks, countertops and faucets installed, the walls painted and the floor re-tiled. "(It will be) totally different, the whole thing," she said, "which it needs." Homeowners, like Simmons, who are looking to remodel any room in their house, or those who want to revamp their outdoor living spaces, have the opportunity to comparison shop between more than 150 companies offering a range of products and services all in a single location. "You could basically build or remodel and entire home from what you find here," said show director Michael Schoppenhorst. "It's worth the investment. Seven dollars is cheaper than a movie." In addition to the exhibitors that will be on site today and Sunday, the Gwinnett Cooperative Extension Center has scheduled speakers to appear on the Home Show Stage discussing topics including water gardening, beginning beekeeping, laying sod and more. A special children's workshop, Composting in a Cup, will be held at 4 p.m. today. Home & Garden Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
