DULUTH -- Police have identified a man found dead in his apartment Tuesday afternoon but have remained tight-lipped about details surrounding his death.
Uniform patrol officers conducting a welfare check at 1702 Arbor Drive found 42-year-old Daniel Aftowski dead, his body covered up.
According to reports, "persons familiar with" Aftowski requested the check after not hearing from him for several days, which they said was unusual.
Investigators have not said how they believe Aftowski died but do believe foul play was involved.
Inside the apartment, officers found "obvious indications that the victim had suffered an unnatural death," said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were then called in.
Kelly said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and that detectives are still following leads in their investigation.
Police urge anyone with information to call investigators at 770-513-5300.
