LAWRENCEVILLE -- Two people died Tuesday evening of gunshot wounds in a possible murder-suicide outside of a movie theater in Lawrenceville, police said.
The Lawrenceville Police Department received a call at 6:36 p.m. that shots were fired outside of Town Center Cinemas on Gwinnett Drive, Capt. Greg Vaughn said. When police arrived, they found a man and a woman dead on the sidewalk in front of the shopping center.
The identities of the deceased were not released Tuesday night. Vaughn said the shooting was "a possible domestic situation," but no further details were disclosed. Vaughn said he did not know ages or the relationship of deceased.
Police are not actively searching for a gunman, Vaughn said. A weapon was recovered, but Vaughn said he could not disclose exactly where it was found.
Vaughn said investigators were talking to witnesses to help determine what happened.
"Right out in front of a business, it's kind of unusual for this to happen," Vaughn said.
An hour after the shooting was reported, the bodies remained on the sidewalk, covered by white sheets. At 8:46 p.m., a hearse arrived, and the bodies were removed from the scene.
