New York, I Love You (R)

Movie: 3 1/2 stars out of 4

Disc: 3 1/2 stars out of 4

"New York, I Love You" is the second in an ongoing series of anthology films designed to capture the flavor and attitude of various world cities. Following the French "Paris je t'aime," it succeeds because it defies the rules of the typical anthology. Instead of a series of start-then-stop short films that often have nothing to do with each other the stories interweave and overlap with major characters from some segments showing up as minor characters in others, a la "Short Cuts." If you've already seen the movie, it's still worth checking out the Blu-ray as one of the deleted films was written and directed by Scarlett Johansson and is as good if not better than those included in the theatrical release.

Technical specs: aspect ratio: Widescreen (1080p/1.85:1), audio: English (Dolby Digital DTS-HD), subtitles: English SDH.

Special features include:

* Five filmmaker interviews

* Two deleted short films

* Trailers
