Samuel B. (Sam) Leonard of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Seneca, S.C., passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, aged eighty-six years. He was born in Lexington, Oh., the son of Albert E. and Velma (Rittenhouse) Leonard. Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Billie June (Shufflebarger) Leonard of Lawrenceville, and by his sister Rosemary Wright of Portland, Ore., son Kenneth E. Leonard of Lawrenceville, Ga., daughter Sharon E. Clark of Wheeling W.Va., daughter Bethany A. Hefner of Bowling Green, Oh., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Leonard was a 1941 graduate of Mansfield (Oh. ) High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as one of the first generation of technicians trained specifically to maintain airborne radar equipment. He was employed by IBM Corp. for forty-seven years and retired in 1988 as a Field Manager in the Field Engineering Division. Mr. Leonard was a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church and served several congregations in that capacity. A memorial service was held Monday, February 1, at Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, 800 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
