LETTERS: Democrats fell by not listening to the voters

I read E.J. Dionne’s recent column (“Paying homage to Democrats who fell in ’10,” Dec. 24, Page 6A) and there is a reason they — Democrats who fell — were not re-elected: We don’t want what they voted for.

Some — most — of us don’t want a cradle-to-grave nanny state. We don’t want people in Congress who ignore us and who decide what is best for us. This column should have been more accurately titled “Defeating the Control-freak liberals in the 2010 elections.”

Take this control mentality all the way out to it’s logical conclusion. After our lives are clamped down down with restrictive tax policies, suffocating regulation and rampant crime due to gun confiscation from law-abiding citizens — which would lead to calls for a police state to stop the criminals terrorizing us with knives and bats and broken bottles — don’t you think the next area of control would be the press?

Sure it would. God help us that we never lose all our sanity in this country.
