Fire at vacant house in Norcross ruled arson
NORCROSS — A Christmas Day fire at an abandoned house on the 4000 block of Anvil Court in Norcross has been ruled arson, fire investigators said.
The blaze, reported about 2 p.m. Saturday, was contained to the garage area of the two-story wood frame house. It was the second fire reported at the home in the past couple of months, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said.
Rutledge said the home is not being lived in and is up for sale. Fire investigators said there are no power or gas utilities supplying the structure, so there was no reason for the fire to start.
Neighbors have reported seeing youths enter the house on several occasions during the past few months. Rutledge said it is unknown if the juveniles played a role in either fire.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett fire investigators at 678-518-4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 800-282-5804. Georgia Arson Control offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrests and conviction of those responsible for the arson.
