LAWRENCEVILLE — A Lawrenceville man is behind bars on charges he beat a woman to death with his bare hands Sunday.
Allen Dewayne Williams, 39, is charged with murder, malice murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery in the killing of Betty Ann Ranow.
Williams allegedly struck Ranow in the face and head with his fists enough to cause fatal injuries sometime after 5 a.m. Sunday, according to his arrest warrants.
The alleged incident scene, 942 Buford Drive, matches Williams’ address and that of a Lawrenceville towing service. A manager at that business hung up when a reporter called Monday afternoon.
Williams’ alleged motive, and his relationship to the victim, was unclear.
Lawrenceville police could not be reached for further information on the case Monday. A representative at the department said a police report is pending.
A probable cause hearing for Williams is scheduled Jan. 4. He has no bond.
The arrest marks Williams’ fourth arrest in Gwinnett County this year. Other charges include aggravated battery, public drunkenness and probation violations, according to jail records.
