Crews continue HOV lane work on Interstate 85

Lane closures will continue in Gwinnett this week as the Department of Transportation and its contractors progress with the Interstate 85 express lanes project.

Work will be done day and night until Thursday morning, with no lane closures occurring during the holiday weekend.

Overnight crews will close HOV lanes in both directions of I-85 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as portions of northbound HOV lanes during the day and overnight outside lane closures northbound at several locations.

“Crews will be working night and day before the lane closure break Christmas weekend,” DOT construction engineer Randall Davis said.

Closures and work are as follows:

• The right lane of I-85 northbound between Steve Reynolds Boulevard and Ga. Highway 316 will close every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for directional boring.

• On Monday, both directions of the HOV lane from Old Peachtree Road to Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road will close overnight. The northbound HOV lane of that same stretch will also be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

• On Tuesday, both directions of the HOV lane from Beaver Ruin Road to Steve Reynolds Boulevard will close overnight. The northbound HOV lane of that same stretch will also be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

• On Wednesday, both directions of the HOV lane from Indian Trail-Lilburn Road to Beaver Ruin Road will close overnight. The northbound HOV lane of that same stretch will also be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
